I really wish I had a cooler story for how
Lazy Oaf
A couple of weeks ago in Another Mag, Tom Ford gave his top five lessons on how to be a modern gentleman and while I am a huge fan of Tom Ford, I was shocked and appalled to see his fifth point.
A man should never wear shorts in the city. Flip-flops and shorts in the city are never appropriate. Shorts should only be worn on the tennis court or on the beach
He may have a point about flip flops, men’s feet are on the whole quite disgusting, but not shorts. Don’t take shorts away from me Tom! While vocalising my outrage at this as I, clearly, like to do, one of my colleagues reminded me that it would probably take a pair of shorts containing a fish tank (still working on how I can make these a reality) to appease both my love for shorts and ‘quirky’ fashion.
Lazy Oaf is, almost entirely, responsible for my love of quirky fashion. I see Lazy Oaf’s approach as a backlash to views like those of Tom Ford… it is possible to stay fashionable and not take it too seriously at the same time. I defy anyone that sees a jumper with a zipper that turns into a mouth or intestines and doesn’t have to have it.
The London based store is on Fouberts Place (just off Carnaby street). They’re throwing a party to celebrate the launch of the SS 11 collection on Thursday (21st April) so go down and check it out… or until then check out the pics below and loads more on the Lazy Oaf Blog.
