I really wish I had a cooler story for how
The Exquisite Forest
Remember that Arcade Fire video The Wilderness Downtown? (If you need to give yourself a quick know to remind yourself hit the link: http://thewildernessdowntown.com/) Well Chris Milk and Aaron Koblin, the guys responsible for that as well as some other great projects (see The Johnny Cash Project), are at it again and this time they’ve teamed up with our very own Tate to do it.
The guys have taken the Exquisite Corpse idea – you know the one, you create a story with each person adding a single word – but have made it slightly more “tech”. Artists including, Miroslaw Balka, Olafur Eliasson, Dryden Goodwin, Raqib Shaw, Julian Opie, Mark Titchner, and Bill Woodrow, have planted some animation ‘seeds’ on the site and users can add to the animations in any way they see fit, to create an animation ‘tree’. Chek out The Exquisite Forest site and watch the video above to get a fuller impression.
The Exquisite Forest can also be viewed and contributed to in the Tate Modern’s physical installation until the end of the year and beyond.
